How this site works
Methodology
TNGovCompare.org is an independent voter-information site for the 2026 Tennessee governor’s race. It is not affiliated with any campaign, party, or government body. It makes no endorsements.
Scope
This site compares the two major-party nominees, Marsha Blackburn (Republican) and Jerri Green (Democrat), on identical policy questions. Independent candidates are also on the ballot. The official candidate list is published by the Tennessee Secretary of State.
Evidence labels
- Campaign proposal What the candidate says they would do as governor.
- Documented position A direct statement of support or opposition.
- Public record A past vote, action or official decision, clearly dated.
- Not established No sufficiently reliable statement found for the specific question.
These are evidence classifications, not ratings of a candidate. The absence of a documented position is never treated as opposition, and positions are never manufactured to make a comparison look symmetrical.
Source hierarchy
Preferred sources, in order: the candidate’s own campaign platform or statement; the candidate’s direct answers to a published questionnaire; a dated vote or official action; independently reported interviews. Secondary candidate-rating sites are not used as sources. Every source page is archived on the day it is read, so a later change to a campaign page can be shown.
Claims versus evidence
Where a campaign makes a quantitative claim, the site distinguishes the claim from independently verified data. Where a candidate promises an executive action, the site distinguishes the promise from what Tennessee law permits a governor to do alone.
Editor’s notes
A short note under some issues explains documented differences and limits of the evidence. It is not a verdict. Where it interprets, it names the evidence it rests on.
Corrections
Every issue shows a last-verified date. When a candidate clarifies or reverses a position, the earlier statement is kept with a dated note rather than silently replaced. Send corrections, with the source, to [email protected].
Disclaimer
TNGovCompare.org is an independent voter-information resource. It is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by any candidate, campaign, political party or government agency, and it makes no endorsements. Positions are summarized from the sources cited and may change; check the original source. Corrections: [email protected].
Use of AI
Research drafting and source auditing used AI tools. Every published claim is checked by a person against its cited source before it appears here.
After the election
After November 3, 2026 this site becomes a dated archive of the 2026 race and is labeled as such.
